The Arth Capital team has a cumulative experience of 50+ years across large, successful Indian and global firms such as ICICI, McKinsey, Larsen and Toubro, Goldman Sachs, GE Capital and Abbott Laboratories. The team members have had a quasi-entrepreneurial past experience that has helped create highly motivated and successful teams, and institutions. With a good mix of operations, consulting, finance and investing, the team believes it has the right mix of skills and a solid track record in sourcing, executing and managing entrepreneurial relationships at various stages of maturity.   • Sumit Chandwani Partner

    Sumit has over 20 years of private equity, structured finance and project finance experience. Most recently, Sumit has served as a board member of ICICI Venture, and the president of the Private Equity business. Sumit led the buyout practice of ICICI Venture, and led India's first Management Buyout with VA Tech Wabag India (India's largest water engineering company) and also first buyout in the manufacturing space of Ace Refractories. He has worked with companies in a variety of industries such as pharmaceuticals, healthcare, manufacturing, services, consumer and engineering. Sumit continues to serve on the boards of PVR Limited and VA Tech Wabag as an independent director.

    Prior to joining ICICI Venture, Sumit worked with ICICI Ltd. and GE Capital. At ICICI, he was with the project financing group and led several project financing transactions in industries like cement, steel, sugar, textiles and auto components. At GE Capital, Sumit was part of the core team that set up Commercial Finance operations in India. He played a key role in purchase of distressed commercial assets in Thailand in 1998. His last assignment at GE Capital was as Country Head for Vendor Financing business in India.

    In 2010, Sumit was awarded the  "Indian Private Equity Professional of the Year" and VA Tech Wabag was awarded the "Indian Private Equity Exit of the Year" by the Asian Venture Capital Journal or AVCJ, a reputed industry publication. The selection of the award winners was based on a process of nominations and voting within a cross section of the Asian PE and VC community.

    Sumit has an MBA from IIM Bangalore and a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering from IIT Roorkee.

  • Bhushan JoshiOperating Partner

    Bhushan has 25 years of experience in various positions up to MD / CEO-level in corporations, start ups, family owned companies and global organizations. He has deep experience in areas ranging from operations effectiveness, development of corporate strategy, business planning & control systems to innovation management. Most recently, he has served as the Managing Director, KraftPowercon India where he drove growth and operational improvements while implementing changes in management processes and systems and synergising with Swedish subsidiary.

    Prior to this, he held the position of CEO, Kenersys India where he led the renewable energy business in the Kalyani group and drove the business from conceptualization to technology commercialization. He led the acquisition of a German design house; tied up bank funding and drove customer acquisition while gearing up the organization suitably. Earlier to that he was Sr. Vice President for Strategic Planning at Bharat Forge Limited where he worked on merger & acquisitions, integration of global operations and business risk assessment. Bhushan has also worked with Technology Network, ICICI, and Larsen & Toubro.

    Bhushan has a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Bombay and an MBA from IIM, Bangalore.
